Genealogy trace, one printable page carrying the proposed code

Under the variant field this directory proposes, this cat would read DBE 166p. The variant is attributed to this animal from the record rather than from a result on it. The proposal is set out in full here, and no registry issues this field today: it is computed from the record at each build and is not part of any registration.

How this cat is connected to the trait

No recorded parent link joins this cat to a founder or to a tested animal. What the record rests on instead is the line recorded on it, Chinese Domestic Cat variant, in Abyssinians, which is a source's attribution and not a descent this register can walk; and a variant recorded on the animal itself, DBE-cDc; and no recorded parent at all, which is a gap in the sources and not a statement that the cat had none.

No parent is recorded for this cat in the register, so no genealogy can be drawn. That is a gap in the sources, not a statement that the cat had none. Any offspring the register holds are listed below.

What is flagged

  1. An Abyssinian of the Beast cattery, not named in the source. Why this cat is in the register. DBE-cDc is the only one of the eight variants that has been reported to cross from a random-bred population into a pedigree breed without a publication following it. The variant was identified in Chinese domestic cats in August 2025 and detected in Abyssinians afterwards, on the finder's own account. That is a breed entry and this register records breed entries wherever they occur, for every variant, because a variant inside a registered breed travels through pedigrees and a variant in a street population does not. The evidence grade is reported and it cannot be anything better: no genotype for this animal is public, no paper describes the variant, and no gene is named for it anywhere. A photograph is not a genotype and a caption is not a laboratory report. S_PETGENO_276

A flag is not an error. It marks a place where two sources say different things, or where an attribution cannot be made on the evidence held.

The description held
Odd-eyed, one blue eye and one green, read from the photograph 13 September 2026. The caption calls the cat blue-eyed and the photograph shows an odd eye. Both are recorded and neither is treated as an error: blue-eyed is used loosely of these cats in every country, and this register has repeatedly found that a variant reported as giving a blue eye gives an odd eye in a share of its carriers. Ruddy ticked coat. No genotype for this individual has been published or supplied: the variant here is the line attribution made by the laboratory that identified it, and not a result on this animal

the identifying laboratory's own public post, October 2025, read 13 September 2026, captioned as a blue-eyed Abyssinian from the BEAST cattery in China and carrying the photograph. The same laboratory states separately that DBE-cDc, identified August 2025 in Chinese domestic cats, was subsequently detected in Abyssinian cats. A third party archive, messybeast.com, had already recorded the Abyssinian detection and named this cattery

This directory is a working aid compiled from published charts, registry documents and breeder statements. It is not a register and it has no standing of any kind. The grade attaches to the animal, not to the line: a cat whose ancestor was genotyped is line-traced, not genotyped.
