One sheet per founding animal: two generations above it where parents are recorded and three below, with the photograph, the eye state, the evidence grade and the latent status on every cat, and the breeds each line reaches
The material on this page is drawn from the Global Cat Health Survey 2026, which is where its sources and its declarations of interest are set out in full.
Every other page of this directory argues from counts. This one draws the descent. For each founding animal the register holds, the sheet below gives two generations above it where parents are recorded and three generations below, with the photograph, the eye state, the evidence grade and the latent status on every animal. It is what a pedigree certificate would show if a registry recorded the variant, which none of them does.
Nothing on a sheet is typed. The animals, the links between them, the breeds each line has reached and every count are read out of the register when the site is built, so a sheet cannot state something the register does not hold. Click any animal to open its own page.

| The bar across the top of a box | The evidence grade. A laboratory result, a lineage grade, a wild-type result, a traced descent, or a report. |
| The pair of ellipses | The eye state as the register holds it. A dashed outline is not a colour: it is a recording gap, and nothing here invents one. |
| The line under the ellipses | The variant where one is adopted, and otherwise the latent status: an obligate carrier, one of an obligate pair, or a cat on the path above a pair. |
| A gold box | The variant founder: the animal the allele is named from. There is one per variant and it carries the whole sheet. |
| A green box | A breed founder: the first animal of a breed in that descent, the cat by which the variant crossed into British, or Siberian, or Maine Coon. It is not the same thing as the variant founder and the sheet marks the two differently, because a breed founder is where a registry's problem begins even though the allele is older than it. |
| The photograph | Shown where one is published for that animal. Every photograph on this site carries a named copyright holder on the animal's own page. |
The Topaz male the ALT insertion is named from.
