Abitbol M, Eisele T and Lipovenko E, 'Additional PAX3 Variants for Dominant Blue Eyes in Cats', Animal Genetics 2026;57:e70199, Table 1 gives 'Agostino, 2, wild-type' for DBE-NAD, with one of the two also C/C for DBE-MARU. S_PAX3_2026_235 | no hearing data exists for this variant and that is not the same as clear. The paper records that no deafness was reported by breeders in this line and that no brainstem auditory evoked response test was carried out on any cat of it, the line being too recent. The same round of genotyping found no latent cat in this line, testing cats of it and of the Rociri Elvis line for both variants; the two latents fell on the Rociri Elvis side. the variant is PAX3 c.160del, a frameshift in exon 2 | the published description in full. PAX3:c.160del, a frameshift in exon 2, predicted to give PAX3:p.(His54ThrTer108), a truncated protein lacking 78 PER cent of the amino acids of the wild type. All thirteen dominant blue eyed Maine Coons of the line are heterozygous for it. It is absent in every non-carrier Maine Coon of the line and in more than three hundred control cat genomes. The study took in 91 cats in all, of which 27 were of this line, 26 of the Rociri Elvis line and 30 unrelated Maine Coons. The pedigree is concordant with autosomal dominant inheritance. S_AGO_255
