Juja
line: Malvina / Barnaul or Aktau / Caspian, not resolved · one blue eye, put down to a DBE variant or its line · Variant not known · also in its ancestry: Aktau / Caspian
Under the variant field this directory proposes, this cat would read DBE 161 x5p. A carrier of a variant with no published allele, on a line this proposal gives a suffix to. The proposal is set out in full here, and no registry issues this field today: it is computed from the record at each build and is not part of any registration.
How this cat is connected to the trait
Juja
Caspian Black Hole, the parent of Juja. a founder of this survey; no variant has ever been identified in this line
That is one recorded parent link, and the animal at the end of it has never been tested, so the connection is a descent and not a result. Every step is a parent recorded in this register from a document; none of them is an assumption. The full genealogy is drawn below, and the sources for each animal are on its own page.

What is flagged on this tree
Caspian black Hole. He was deaf. Reported by the Meowrigi breeder and relayed to this survey on 2 September 2026. This is the first deafness recorded against any founder in this register and it is the harm the whole survey exists to document. The compiler's reading is that deafness in a blue-eyed founder points to two copies of a determinant, either the same one twice or one each of two different ones, which is the compound heterozygote state this register documents elsewhere. That is a proposal and not a finding, and the ordinary alternative is not dismissed: deafness in cats most commonly follows dominant white and white spotting, this animal is a found cat with no code and no pedigree above him, and his recorded descendants carry white figures. He was never tested and cannot now be. What would advance it is a hearing test and a genotype on his living descendants, of whom this register holds several. He was bred from, and that is the point of recording it. He was not a deaf pet kept aside: this register holds him as one of the cattery's two dominant blue eye foundation cats, the chart records four matings, two to Malvina and two to Meowrigi Cincinella, before he was castrated, and four records stand below him here. One of those, Meowrigi Rastishka, is himself blue-eyed on his own certificate and was afterwards used in a Sphynx breeding programme, so the descent of a deaf founder has already left this cattery and entered another breed. The two matings to Malvina produced no offspring this register holds, and that is the most important gap on this page. The offspring exist. The compiler was told on 2 September 2026 that the breeder who found Malvina holds the kittens of that mating. An animal out of Caspian black Hole by Malvina stands below two independent dominant blue eye founders at once, the Aktau founder on the sire's side and the Barnaul founder on the dam's, which is the strongest candidate for a compound heterozygote that this survey has identified anywhere. Neither determinant has been identified molecularly and no test exists for either, so nothing is claimed about what such an animal carries. What is claimed is that the mating is exactly the one this register was built to find, and that its offspring are not lost but held, unrecorded here, by a breeder this survey can reach. The sire of that mating was deaf. The deafness is recorded because a breeder considering this line needs to know it, whatever its cause. S_RANOCERT_230
A flag is not an error. It marks a place where two sources say different things, or where an attribution cannot be made on the evidence held.

The description held
Homozygosity in this line is stated to be lethal. Professor Marie abitbol, who identified DBE-ALT and DBE-CEL, states in her 2026 World Cat Federation presentation, on the slide headed 'Malvina line', that this is a dominant blue eye line from Russia, that it was introduced into the Siberian breed, that homozygosity is lethal, that there is no data on deafness, and that the search for the variant is ongoing. This is the researcher's statement and not this survey's finding: the presentation gives the conclusion without the underlying counts, so no number of lost kittens is claimed here. It is recorded against every animal of the line because a breeder looks up an animal and not a line. What it means in practice: mating two carriers of this determinant together is expected to lose the quarter of the litter that inherits two copies, and because those kittens do not survive to be counted, a breeder doing it may see only small litters and conclude nothing is wrong. It is a different and worse harm from the compound heterozygote this register documents elsewhere, which is white and deaf and which lives. The determinant of this line remains unidentified and this note does not attribute one. S_LETHAL_206

This directory is a working aid compiled from published charts, registry documents and breeder statements. It is not a register and it has no standing of any kind. The grade attaches to the animal, not to the line: a cat whose ancestor was genotyped is line-traced, not genotyped.
