Under the variant field this directory proposes, this cat would read DBE 163t. A laboratory result on this animal. The proposal is set out in full here, and no registry issues this field today: it is computed from the record at each build and is not part of any registration.

How this cat is connected to the trait

A laboratory has tested this animal itself, so nothing has to be traced: the result is on the cat.

More than one variant could be present in this cat

DBE-ALT and Nadeya, unidentified. MORE THAN ONE VARIANT COULD BE PRESENT IN THIS CAT: DBE-ALT, Nadeya, unidentified. It is not established that any of them is, and it is not established that two are. A CAT HOLDING TWO IS A COMPOUND HETEROZYGOTE, which this survey records as the state associated with deaf and dead kittens, and NOTHING BUT A TEST DISTINGUISHES ONE FROM TWO.

Computed from the recorded parentage at every build, counting both the variants this survey adopts and the ones it records a source claiming and does not adopt. IT IS AN UPPER BOUND AND NOT A FINDING: it says what could be here, never what is.

What is flagged on this tree

  1. WANESSA EMERALD FLOWER. TWO SOURCES DISAGREE ABOUT HER EYE AND THE DISAGREEMENT IS LOAD-BEARING. This register holds her at BSH ny 12 61, a blue eye. The PawPeds sheet for her daughter Paula Emerald Flower gives her as BSH ny 12 with no eye code at all. HER DAUGHTER IS CODED 69 AND HER GRANDDAUGHTER IS GENOTYPED DBE^ALT, so whether the eye is recorded on her decides whether the trait appears at Paula or comes from above her. NEITHER READING IS DISCARDED
  2. WANESSA EMERALD FLOWER. Eye and coat, THE STRONGEST EXCLUSION THIS REGISTER CAN MAKE FROM A CODE. This cat is blue-eyed in both eyes and its recorded coat carries NO WHITE SPOTTING CODE AT ALL, is not dominant white and is not colourpointed. NOTHING IN THE COAT CAN PALE AN IRIS. A dominant blue eye is present and it is not the KIT odd-eye case and not the white-cat case. Its registry has entered no dominant eye code on it. WHICH VARIANT IS NOT DEDUCIBLE FROM A COAT CODE and none is adopted: a genotype or a trace to a named founder would name it.
  3. PAULA EMERALD FLOWER. Latency. STATED BY A SOURCE, NOT DEMONSTRATED BY A TEST. Latent is a claim that this cat carries a variant while showing no blue or odd eye, and here it rests on a breeder-compiled document rather than on a laboratory result. THREE CATS IN THIS REGISTER ARE LATENT ON A GENOTYPE: Belle Ayr Onyxx, DBE-ALT, and Robin and Rocky, both DBE-RE. This is not one of them

A flag is not an error. It marks a place where two sources say different things, or where an attribution cannot be made on the evidence held.

The description held
GENOTYPED DBE^ALT, HETEROZYGOUS, WRITTEN OUT BY THE LABORATORY AS DBE-ALT/n. Chocolate golden shaded with two blue eyes. THE COLOURPOINT ALLELE IS EXCLUDED BY TEST AND NOT BY READING A CODE, which is what this register asks for throughout: where a pointing factor and a pale eye stand together, only a genotype separates them, and here a laboratory has run that separation. Longhair is excluded on the same panel and he carries fawn. THE PANEL DOES NOT ADDRESS WHITE and the source does not claim it does. HE IS ONE OF TWO MALES ON ONE RESULT AND THE PAIR IS THE POINT. Topaz is coded 61, two blue eyes; Tokyo is coded 63, one green and one blue. THE SAME VARIANT WAS FOUND IN BOTH. This register already holds that shape in the Maine Coon, where three BelleAyr sisters of one litter are all genotyped DBE^RE and the registries coded them 68, 69 and nothing at all, and it already holds one genotyped DBE^ALT cat coded 61 and one coded 63. SO THIS CORROBORATES RATHER THAN ESTABLISHES: the same finding in a second variant, a second breed group and a second laboratory. WHETHER THE TWO ARE LITTERMATES IS NOT STATED BY THE SOURCE AND IS NOT ASSUMED. THE CODE CARRIES NO WHITE AND THE PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS SOME, AND THAT IS NOT RESOLVED HERE. His code carries no white figure of any kind: no dominant white, no white spotting figure and no colourpoint. The photograph published with the result shows white on the chest, the muzzle and the front feet. A GOLDEN SHELL OR GOLDEN SHADED COAT PRODUCES A NEAR-WHITE UNDERCOAT IN EXACTLY THOSE PLACES as part of its own tipping, so a photograph cannot separate that from white spotting. NO FINDING 21 CLAIM IS MADE FOR HIM, which is the treatment this register gives every animal where a code and a photograph disagree about white S_ZOOGEN_174 A CORRECTION MADE WITHIN THE HOUR AND NEVER PUBLISHED. This record was entered with the line 'Altai / Nikita'l Seymour', the founder line DBE^ALT is traced to. THE GENOTYPE DOES NOT ESTABLISH THAT DESCENT: a cat can carry the variant without any document placing it below that founder, and in this register a line is a documented descent and not an inference from a variant. THE LINE FIELD IS CLEARED. The variant stands, because it is a laboratory result. THE CATTERY HOLDS A GENOTYPED DBE^ALT CAT AND A LINE WITH NO VARIANT IDENTIFIED, AND NOTHING HELD HERE SAYS WHETHER THEY ARE THE SAME THING. Topaz and Tokyo Zojka are genotyped DBE^ALT. This litter is attributed to the Nadeya line, in which no variant has been identified. THE EYE CODES ARE THE SAME ON BOTH SIDES: 61 on the blue-eyed cats and 63 on the odd-eyed ones. EITHER THE CATTERY HOLDS TWO DETERMINANTS, which would make it a two-variant cattery in one breed group and a place a compound heterozygote could be made by accident, OR THE NADEYA ATTRIBUTION HERE IS WRONG AND THESE CATS ARE DBE^ALT TOO, which would partly resolve one of the largest untested lines in the register. A DBE^ALT TEST ON ANY ONE CAT OF THIS LITTER SETTLES IT, and it is among the cheapest and most informative tests this register can name. NEITHER READING IS ADOPTED: the genotyped cats have no recorded parents, so a shared cattery is all that joins them to this litter, and A SHARED CATTERY IS NOT A SHARED LINE. S_ZOJKA_175 HIS PARENTS ARE NOW KNOWN AND BOTH WERE ALREADY IN THIS REGISTER: Sammy Zojka, BRI oy 12 with no eye code, over Yassminka Zojka, BRI ny 11 61 and attributed to the Nadeya line. THE WHITE QUESTION IS ANSWERED FOR HIM AND IS NOT CARRIED TO ANY OTHER CAT. The cattery states 'without white in gold fur'; his code carries no white figure of any kind; and the laboratory has excluded the colourpoint allele by test. THREE SOURCES AGREE AND NOTHING DISSENTS, so what the photograph shows on his chest and feet is the golden undercoat. HE THEREFORE SATISFIES THE FINDING 21 TEST ON HIS CODE AND IS GENOTYPED POSITIVE, which is the one case in this register where that inference could be checked against a laboratory result and it held. THE VARIANT REACHED HIM DOWN ONE OF TWO ROUTES AND NOTHING HELD HERE SAYS WHICH. DBE^ALT is dominant and Topaz Zojka is heterozygous, so AT LEAST ONE OF HIS PARENTS CARRIES IT. HIS PARENTS ARE HALF-SIBLINGS: Sammy Zojka and Yassminka Zojka are both out of Quincy ARS BRITANNICA, who carries no eye code at all. EITHER THE VARIANT ENTERED THROUGH QUINCY, in which case he is a latent carrier of a named variant and it explains the blue eyes on both sides below him, OR IT ENTERED THROUGH YASSMINKA'S DAM PAULA EMERALD FLOWER, who is already recorded latent and is on the Nadeya line, IN WHICH CASE DBE^ALT SITS INSIDE THE NADEYA LINE, one of the largest lines in this register for which no variant has been identified. A SINGLE TEST ON QUINCY DISCRIMINATES BETWEEN THE TWO AND EITHER ANSWER IS A FINDING. NEITHER IS ASSUMED. S_TOPAZ_176 WHAT THIS RESULT DOES NOT SAY, AND IT IS AS IMPORTANT AS WHAT IT DOES. The laboratory's own public catalogue offers ONE dominant blue eye product for cats, DBE-ALT, and lists no other. DBE^CEL, DBE^RE, DBE^AGO, DBE^cDc AND DBE^xHW WERE NOT TESTED. A positive DBE-ALT result therefore establishes one variant and excludes none of the other five, so this cat is not shown to be free of any of them and is NOT CLEAR. This register records the panel beside the result for exactly that reason. S_MISHA_177 TWO FULL SIBLINGS OUT OF ONE MATING ARE GENOTYPED DBE^ALT, Topaz Zojka and Misha Zojka, both heterozygous, both out of Sammy Zojka over Yassminka Zojka. ONE POSITIVE KITTEN LEAVES A NEW MUTATION OPEN; TWO OUT OF ONE PAIRING MAKES A CARRIER PARENT THE ONLY ORDINARY EXPLANATION. Which parent is still not established, and their sire Quincy ARS BRITANNICA, who is the sire of both of them and carries no eye code, remains the one animal a single test would discriminate on. S_MISHA_177 THE DAM IS GENOTYPED. Yassminka Zojka is herself DBE^ALT/n by laboratory result stated by the cattery, so the variant in this kitten is inherited from a tested parent and is not an inference. A CAT OF THE NADEYA LINE IS NOW GENOTYPED, AND THAT DOES NOT IDENTIFY THE NADEYA DETERMINANT. Yassminka Zojka is genotyped DBE^ALT and is attributed to the Nadeya line, which is the first laboratory result on any animal this register places on that line. SHE HAS TWO PARENTS AND ONLY ONE OF THEM IS ON IT: her sire Quincy ARS BRITANNICA is not, and her dam Paula Emerald Flower is. IF THE VARIANT CAME FROM QUINCY it entered from outside the line and the Nadeya determinant is still unidentified; IF IT CAME FROM PAULA then DBE^ALT is inside the Nadeya line. NOTHING HELD HERE CHOOSES BETWEEN THEM, and one DBE^ALT test on Paula Emerald Flower settles it outright. IT ALSO DOES NOT EXCLUDE A SECOND VARIANT: the laboratory offers a DBE-ALT product only, so DBE^CEL, DBE^RE, DBE^AGO, DBE^cDc and DBE^xHW were not tested in any of these cats, and a Nadeya determinant distinct from DBE^ALT would not have shown up. S_YASSMINKA_178 A CAVEAT ON THE CODE, ADDED 29 AUGUST 2026 AND APPLYING TO EVERY GOLDEN SHADED BRITISH CAT IN THIS REGISTER CODED 61 OR 63 WITH NO WHITE FIGURE. THE ABSENCE OF A WHITE FIGURE IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF WHITE ON THESE CATS. Three cats in this material have now had white spoken to by someone who has seen them, and the three do not agree: Irven vom Wuerzburgerstern and Cooper from SoloMiya are both said to have some, and Topaz Zojka is stated by his own cattery to have none, and ALL THREE CARRY CODES WITH NO WHITE FIGURE. A golden shell or shaded coat puts near-white fur on the chest, muzzle and feet by its own tipping, and the registries writing these codes do not appear to separate that from white spotting consistently. FINDING 21 RESTS ON THE CODE AND IS THEREFORE WEAKER FOR THIS GROUP THAN IT IS ELSEWHERE, and it is not weakened where white is coded reliably, which is most of this register. NO STATUS IS CHANGED ON THIS RECORD BY THIS NOTE: a caveat is not a finding. A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE WHOLE CAT, OR A GENOTYPE, WOULD SETTLE IT. S_COOPER_187

IT GIVES THE VARIANT, THE ZYGOSITY AND TWO EXCLUSIONS BY TEST: DBE-ALT/n, no colourpoint allele and no longhair, both cats carrying fawn. IT GIVES NO PARENTS, NO DATE OF BIRTH AND NO CATTERY PREFIX. THE POST IS MADE FROM A PERSONAL ACCOUNT AND THE CATTERY IS THE ZOJKA PREFIX, CONFIRMED BY THE COMPILER. THE PERSON IS NOT NAMED IN ANY FIELD OF THIS REGISTER; and a second public post by the same cattery, 24 July, giving Topaz's parents as Sammy Zojka over Yassminka Zojka, stating 'Don't carry point, without white in gold fur', giving his carried colours as cinnamon and fawn, and recording both parents as FIV, FeLV, PKD and HCM tested. THE CATTERY IS CITED BY ITS PREFIX AND NO PERSON IS NAMED

This directory is a working aid compiled from published charts, registry documents and breeder statements. It is not a register and it has no standing of any kind. The grade attaches to the animal, not to the line: a cat whose ancestor was genotyped is line-traced, not genotyped.
