HER DAUGHTER IS CODED 69 AND HER GRANDDAUGHTER IS GENOTYPED DBE^ALT, so whether the eye is recorded on her decides whether the trait appears at Paula or comes from above her. NEITHER READING IS DISCARDED
2. WANESSA EMERALD FLOWER. Eye and coat, THE STRONGEST EXCLUSION THIS REGISTER CAN MAKE FROM A CODE. This cat is blue-eyed in both eyes and its recorded coat carries NO WHITE SPOTTING CODE AT ALL, is not dominant white and is not colourpointed. NOTHING IN THE COAT CAN PALE AN IRIS. A dominant blue eye is present and it is not the KIT odd-eye case and not the white-cat case. Its registry has entered no dominant eye code on it. THE CHART WRITES DBE-ALT IN RED BESIDE HER THE CATTERY HOLDS A GENOTYPED DBE^ALT CAT AND A LINE WITH NO VARIANT IDENTIFIED, AND NOTHING HELD HERE SAYS WHETHER THEY ARE THE SAME THING. Topaz and Tokyo Zojka are genotyped DBE^ALT. This litter is attributed to the Nadeya line, in which no variant has been identified. THE EYE CODES ARE THE SAME ON BOTH SIDES: 61 on the blue-eyed cats and 63 on the odd-eyed ones. EITHER THE CATTERY HOLDS TWO DETERMINANTS, which would make it a two-variant cattery in one breed group and a place a compound heterozygote could be made by accident, OR THE NADEYA ATTRIBUTION HERE IS WRONG AND THESE CATS ARE DBE^ALT TOO, which would partly resolve one of the largest untested lines in the register. A DBE^ALT TEST ON ANY ONE CAT OF THIS LITTER SETTLES IT, and it is among the cheapest and most informative tests this register can name. NEITHER READING IS ADOPTED: the genotyped cats have no recorded parents, so a shared cattery is all that joins them to this litter, and A SHARED CATTERY IS NOT A SHARED LINE. S_ZOJKA_175 SHE IS THE DAM OF A GENOTYPED CAT. Topaz Zojka is genotyped DBE^ALT and heterozygous, so she or his sire carries the variant. SHE IS THE LIKELIER OF THE TWO AND THAT IS NOT EVIDENCE: she shows a blue eye and he carries no eye code, and a cat with no eye code is what a latent carrier looks like. THE VARIANT REACHED HIM DOWN ONE OF TWO ROUTES AND NOTHING HELD HERE SAYS WHICH. DBE^ALT is dominant and Topaz Zojka is heterozygous, so AT LEAST ONE OF HIS PARENTS CARRIES IT. HIS PARENTS ARE HALF-SIBLINGS: Sammy Zojka and Yassminka Zojka are both out of Quincy ARS BRITANNICA, who carries no eye code at all. S_TOPAZ_176 TWO FULL SIBLINGS OUT OF ONE MATING ARE GENOTYPED DBE^ALT, Topaz Zojka and Misha Zojka, both heterozygous, both out of Sammy Zojka over Yassminka Zojka. ONE POSITIVE KITTEN LEAVES A NEW MUTATION OPEN; TWO OUT OF ONE PAIRING MAKES A CARRIER PARENT THE ONLY ORDINARY EXPLANATION. Which parent is still not established, and their sire Quincy ARS BRITANNICA, who is the sire of both of them and carries no eye code, remains the one animal a single test would discriminate on. S_MISHA_177 HER OWN CATTERY WRITES HER TWO WAYS. She is given as BRI ny 11 61 on the July post and BRI ny 25 61 on the June one, shaded against ticked tabby. THE REGISTER HOLDS HER AT ny 11 61 AND KEEPS IT, recording the second reading, because one cattery writing its own queen two ways is a fact about the record and not about the cat. S_MISHA_177 SHE IS HERSELF GENOTYPED DBE^ALT, HETEROZYGOUS, stated by her cattery on 13 March. THE DEDUCTION ABOUT WHICH OF HER AND HER MATE CARRIED THE VARIANT IS NO LONGER NEEDED: she carries it, and two of her kittens by a sire with no eye code carry it after her. A CAT OF THE NADEYA LINE IS NOW GENOTYPED, AND THAT DOES NOT IDENTIFY THE NADEYA DETERMINANT. Yassminka Zojka is genotyped DBE^ALT and is attributed to the Nadeya line, which is the first laboratory result on any animal this register places on that line. SHE HAS TWO PARENTS AND ONLY ONE OF THEM IS ON IT: her sire Quincy ARS BRITANNICA is not, and her dam Paula Emerald Flower is. IF THE VARIANT CAME FROM QUINCY it entered from outside the line and the Nadeya determinant is still unidentified; IF IT CAME FROM PAULA then DBE^ALT is inside the Nadeya line. NOTHING HELD HERE CHOOSES BETWEEN THEM, and one DBE^ALT test on Paula Emerald Flower settles it outright. IT ALSO DOES NOT EXCLUDE A SECOND VARIANT: the laboratory offers a DBE-ALT product only, so DBE^CEL, DBE^RE, DBE^AGO, DBE^cDc and DBE^xHW were not tested in any of these cats, and a Nadeya determinant distinct from DBE^ALT would not have shown up. S_YASSMINKA_178 A CAVEAT ON THE CODE, ADDED 29 AUGUST 2026 AND APPLYING TO EVERY GOLDEN SHADED BRITISH CAT IN THIS REGISTER CODED 61 OR 63 WITH NO WHITE FIGURE. THE ABSENCE OF A WHITE FIGURE IS NOT THE ABSENCE OF WHITE ON THESE CATS. Three cats in this material have now had white spoken to by someone who has seen them, and the three do not agree: Irven vom Wuerzburgerstern and Cooper from SoloMiya are both said to have some, and Topaz Zojka is stated by his own cattery to have none, and ALL THREE CARRY CODES WITH NO WHITE FIGURE. A golden shell or shaded coat puts near-white fur on the chest, muzzle and feet by its own tipping, and the registries writing these codes do not appear to separate that from white spotting consistently. FINDING 21 RESTS ON THE CODE AND IS THEREFORE WEAKER FOR THIS GROUP THAN IT IS ELSEWHERE, and it is not weakened where white is coded reliably, which is most of this register.
